An Evening with George

A show starring the charming melodies of American composer George Gershwin. Presented in two parts, the first half is a musical theater revue titled Rhapsody in Blue (and Pink!), written and orchestrated by John Whitworth. Part 2 will feature Tom Pazik's By George!; a show within a show that allows the audience a glimpse into the backstage happenings of a dance company. Come tap your toes and sing along to the fascinatin' rhythm you're sure to catch in An Evening with George.

 

Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre is pleased to announce Ashleigh Whitworth
as our new Assistant Artistic Director. Ashleigh grew up dancing under the tutorship
of Ms. Ruth Mitchell and spent 13 years studying at Georgia Dance Conservatory,
as well as performing with Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre. From 2007-2011, Ashleigh
attended the University of the Arts under the Presidential Scholarship and Stone Dance
Scholarship. While at UArts, she received numerous honors including the opportunity
to address her graduating class as the Valedictory Speaker, as well as the President's
Award for artistic and academic excellence of the highest order. Post graduation,
Ashleigh worked as a freelance dancer, teacher, and choreographer in Philadelphia,
as well as Rehearsal Director for UArts. Ms. Whitworth is thrilled to be returning
to her dance "home".
